It is hard to believe that this is now my fifth season as Artistic Director of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus. Like many New Yorkers, I still feel that I have just arrived in the city, and, although we have come such a long way and made progress no-one could have forseen, the journey of the chorus’s artistic development seems also to have only just begun.

It has also been a journey of growth for me, both as a musician and a human being. No job is ever what you expect, and the leadership challenge of rebuilding an arts organisation has been a revelation, as has learning how arts fundraising works in the US.

Thanks to all those who made it possible for me to be here, and continue to trust me to lead the artistic side of this incredible organisation.
